Funny Translator הוא אתר שנועד להמחיש את הבעייתיות שבתרגום המכונה. מקלידים טקסט קצר והאתר מתרגם את אותו לסירוגין לשפות שונות ובחזרה לאנגלית. הטקסט שמתקבל בסוף לעתים שונה לחלוטין מהמשפט המקורי, ואפשר לקרוא תרגומים מצחיקים שהגולשים העלו.

כדי לבדוק את המתרגם בעצמי, ניסיתי לתרגם שורות משירים שונים של הביטלס. התוצאות לפניכם, כפי שהופיעו בפלט המקורי:

אמנם גם בשרשרת תרגומים אנושיים יהיו סטיות מהמקור, אבל לדעתי הן עדיין יהיו מדויקות יותר. לפי הדוגמאות האלה נראה שהאתר מוכיח את טענתו – יש עוד דרך ארוכה עד שניתן יהיה לסמוך על תרגום מכונה.
